The Dire Dawa Development Association (DDDA) recognizes the importance of food security in achieving socio-economic development in the region. To this end, we have developed a comprehensive food security program that aims to improve access to nutritious food for our community and contribute to the overall well-being of our region.
We work to promote sustainable agricultural practices, such as conservation farming techniques, seed banks, and irrigation systems, to increase crop yields and improve food production in the region
Agricultural development
We partner with local farmers and food producers to distribute nutritious food to underserved communities, particularly those living in remote or hard-to-reach areas.
Food distribution
We provide nutrition education programs to community members, particularly women and children, to promote healthy eating habits and raise awareness about the importance of a balanced diet.
Nutrition education
We support the construction of food storage facilities and promote the use of food preservation techniques to reduce food waste and ensure that nutritious food is available year-round.
Food storage and preservation
The DDDA plays a critical role in implementing this food security program by leveraging its resources and expertise to mobilize community members, partner with other organizations, and advocate for policies and initiatives that support food security in our region.
The DDDA works to engage and educate community members about the importance of food security, and encourages them to participate in food production and distribution activities.
The DDDA partners with other organizations working on food security issues to leverage resources and expertise, and to coordinate efforts to maximize impact.
The DDDA advocates for policies and initiatives that support food security in our region, such as increased funding for agricultural development, stronger support for small-scale farmers, and improved access to food for underserved populations.
