The Dire Dawa Development Association in collaboration with the Elnet Foundation provided food support to the inmates of the Federal Prisons Administration on the occasion of Ramadan and Abey Fasting. The main reason for the support is that the inmates live in an area isolated from society, so they do not experience the social life outside during fasting, so that they do not feel lonely and show that the society outside is on their side.
Mr. Teferi Abera, a board member of the development association, was present at the support ceremony. He said that the support given to the inmates in the prison during Ramadan and Abey fasting should be encouraged as it strengthens our culture of solidarity and mutual support.
The head of the Federal Prisons Management Organization, Commissioner Wendimu Debela, expressed his respect and gratitude for the support and said that unlike other times, the community’s initiative to support prisoners is very admirable and the prison has done many things to improve the treatment of prisoners in all aspects. They stated that the sewing, soap production, bread production and supply to the prisoners, shoe production, clothes sewing, vegetable and fruit production and laundry service are mentioned.
The support that was given on the day was 10 bags of 25 kilograms of macaroni, 25 kilograms of 10 bags of rice, 10 kilograms of 10 bags of wheat flour and 20 liters of 7 jerry cans of oil.
